Date : 10 October 2009
Venue: Phoenix Rydalvale Grounds
Ten Ten O Nine was an event were the community participated in soccer and volleyball which was a great community outreach for the radio station.
We had junior and senior teams participating in these sporting activites and the highlight was the five a side soccer tournament which was a build up for the 2010 Soccer World Cup
Junior teams were charged a fee of R50 per team in both codes of sports and the seniors were charged a fee of R100 per team. The events started at 9am and GNCR had a live broadcast
from the ground. GNCR had a food stall which sold various items but the highlight was the R10 quarter mutton bunny despite the recession.
We had approximately 5000 people that attended the function.
Project director, Barnes Govender, said that event was a great success as the build to the 2010 World Cup. We at
the station were overwhelmed by the response of the community and our prayer is that the community will continue to support GNCR
in future events.
Station Manager, Steven Mabugana, thanked the community for their participation and was blessed by the turn out despite the inclement weather predictions.
And there again God showed His wonderful power by holding the rain back and giving us beautiful weather for the day.
